Ian Breakwell – Twitter Diaries

Ian Breakwell’s practice of observing and documenting everyday life – was the inspiration for a new social media art interaction at the Pavilion this weekend. Breakwell’s style of diary writing – wry, dry, poignant and succinct – seemed so perfectly suited to the 140 character form of the Tweet – that we launched the #breakwelldiary – so that visitors to the exhibition over the next few months, can share their own observations of the everyday life of the gallery.

This Saturday – dozens of visitors shared what they’d seen, felt and heard in the gallery – including many first time Tweeters. We tweeted words and images – some of which you can see here – the rest can be viewed by searching with the #breakwelldiary hashtag on Twitter. Writer, Wendy Ann Greenhalgh, will be back again on December 8th 2012 and January 12th between 1-4pm to help you compose your tweets. But in the meantime, if you’re visiting the Pavilion, and want to share your own photographs and words via your own Twitter feeds – then we’d love to read and re-tweet them – just use the #breakwelldiary tag.
